Album Notes

Featuring the songwriting of Lyricist Eric Winer and Guitarist/Singer Jim Cohen, matched with their longtime bassist, Bob Hecker, SONGBOX is a Detroit based group with its roots in classic and alternative rock, singer-songwriter pathos, and commercial pop.

Joined by veteran drummer, Rich Allen, "Rhymes For Venus" also features other top Detroit rockers such as Vinny Dombrowski(Sponge), and wiz lead guitar from Brian "Roscoe" White (Whitey Benson).

While their music is song driven and their sound is unique, you can hear how Springsteen, Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Squeeze,The Who, The Clash, etc. lead them to a sound that reminds one of current artists like Ben Folds,Counting Crows, and the Wallflowers.

The music is serious, but it's not afraid to poke fun at the world, themselves, while rocking at the same time.

SONGBOX has played the punk, college rock, alternative scenes as members of Detroit and L.A. bands, and they are loaded with radio-ready rock with a jam-packed debut.
