The latest CD by Songless Sparrow, “JeJune”, is a well crafted masterpiece that blends various musical styles into an auditory delight.
“Had Enough” This song features complex vocal melodies intertwined with alluringly hypnotic keyboards and a touch of electronic effects. Nikki draws the listener in closer and closer with her voice; there’s no escape. Brilliantly produced!
I’m a big fan of complex, some would say unusual music. Without a doubt, my favorite track on this CD is: "Just Anything". Katie's voice is absolutely beautiful. This song is simultaneously haunting and intoxicating. I can't get enough of it, I’m caught in its spell. The bridge is beautiful. Very very nice.
"No Chief" is also very good, again the vocals are terrific. Same with "Mirage".
"Memorial Day - Shades of Blue." This song has an awesome into featuring a synthesized pipe organ. So awesome in fact that the listener is expecting something great. There’s no disappointment either, this is a great song. Katie’s haunting vocals speak directly to the soul. Beautiful!
This CD is worth checking out. Faris’ writing is interesting, complex, but not overly so, and without a doubt seductive. The more I listen, the more I want to hear. I can’t wait for the next CD.
