Album Notes

For the first time ever, this is lap steel virtuoso Son Henry caught live; a fantastic live performance transferred to CD through the miracle of modern technology and delivered straight to your door… On November 11th, 2005, Son Henry and the band, along with five special guests, took over the historic 4th Avenue theater in Anchorage Alaska for a night of live blues, as a benefit for a homeless shelter. Three bands into the night, Son sat down on a bar stool and blew the roof off the theater, armed with an old Lap Steel guitar. It was an amazing night, and it’s all here! Later in the evening, Son invited a few special guests to sit in. Stu Schulman, (an amazing guitar player in his own right who played with Willie Nelson, Marcia Ball, Delaney and Bonnie and a host of others), and Melissa Bledsoe-Fisher, an Alaskan Jazz piano legend melded right in with the band. East-coast harmonica legend Otto ‘Ottomatic Slim’ Lenz, an old friend from way back, took over on harp and vocals. And, of course, Texas Blues Diva Blue Lisa Monroe got up to sing. It’s all here…. As if that wasn’t enough, though- Son spent the week in the studio as well, recording some new songs. Five of them have made it to this release as bonus tracks, because they were just too much fun to keep in the vault! Enjoy!
