Album Notes

The Band
Sonic X is a Melodic Hard rock band based out of Toronto, Canada. They have often been described as a combination of classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake and even Metallica at times. The four members of Sonic X are Vocalist Adam Troy, Guitarist Lawrence Falcomer, Bassist Joseph Cumbo and Drummer Michael Marquez. The band has been together for quite some time, achieving stability once Adam Troy joined the band. The foundation of Sonic X was built long ago when Joseph Cumbo met Drummer Michael Marquez in high school. Joseph watched Michel perform in a band called Aftermath and though that this hard-hitting Drummer's style reminded him of John Bonham.

Impressed with his performance, Joseph stuck up a friendship with Michael and eventually joined Aftermath. Their friendship has stood the test of time and due to their great chemistry they've created an air tight rhythm section. Aside from Aftermath the two played in various club bands together always looking for ways to improve their band and situation. Through some mutual friends they heard about an extremely talented guitar player that was playing in a band with some high school friends. That Guitar player was Lawrence Falcomer.

The bands' fortunes changed when Lawrence decided to jam with Joseph & Michael. The chemistry between the three was obvious right away as Lawrence fit in perfectly. The band recruited a friend to sing in the band as they worked on a variety of cover songs and hit the local bar circuit. The band took a break when Lawrence Falcomer went to Los Angeles to study at the world-renowned Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT). Joseph and Michael kept playing together with other Musicians until Lawrence returned. Once the three were back together again they formed a Band called L.A.

L.A. played a mix of cover material and original songs as they became a force on the local scene often playing to sold out venues. The band toured all of Canada from coast to coast, writing original material as they made their way across the country. They would introduce their original songs in their set amidst the cover songs and found that the audience reaction was positive.

Although L.A. achieved local success, including being named "Best Toronto Club Band" at the prestigious Toronto Music Awards, they felt that in order to reach the next level they would need a new vocalist that would take them there.

Through a mutual friend, Gil Moore of the legendary Canadian Rock band "Triumph" Joseph was introduced to Adam Troy who was singing with a band called "Rage of Angels" in Orlando, Florida.

Gil raved about this singer and thought that Adam would fit the band perfectly. Joseph decided to see Adam firsthand while Adam was performing on the local club scene in Orlando Florida.

Adam did not disappoint; he was everything Gil described, and more. Joseph thought that Adam would be a perfect fit for L.A. His vocal style and on-stage charisma were exactly what they was needed to get them to the next level.

Adam flew to Toronto to meet the rest of the band and it was immediately evident that there was something special about to take place. Adam agreed to join the band and relocated from warm sunny Florida to frigid Toronto, Canada. The band took itself off the road and concentrated solely on writing new material. Once they were ready to emerge and play live shows armed with their new original material, they decided to change their name from "L.A." to "Zara White", as they felt that with a new vocalist, new songs and a new sound the band should re-emerge as a new entity.

Zara White played select club dates that were well received as they played mostly original material written after Adam had joined. The band received a lot of attention from major labels and management companies, but due to unavoidable circumstances, they took a hiatus for a period of time to concentrate on other projects. With the urging of friends and fans the band decided to reform and work on some new material, calling themselves Sonic X. Joseph played a demo of the songs they had worked on for Mladen of the band Von Groove & Final Frontier, and he was instrumental in getting the tape to Mark Alger at Z Records. The band was signed to a Worldwide Record Deal with Z Records on July 8th, 2004, and their much-anticipated self titled debut CD will be released on October 25, 2004.

I heard about this band through a friend who turned me on to them. MOST IMPRESSIVE. Melodic vocals, smoking guitars, and a rhythm section that kicks your head in. All of the song are smokin...They hit the nail on the head in their description of their sound Old and Nu....My fav track is Feed the Flame, and News for You. The only negative I have is production on the second half of the cd could be better.I bought it and Im addicted to it. I've been to their 2 web sites and they have a follow up cd coming out in September. Check em out....CAnt wait for the new cd guys!! myspace.com/thesonicx or www.thesonicx.com

This CD and Band should be getting a lot more recognition. The songs on this CD are incredible. The music is heavy but the vocals are very melodic so it is easy to get attached to the songs. You will find yourself wanting to listen to this CD over and over again as the tunes are that catchy. Do yourself a favour and purchase this CD, you won't regret it I promise. I have turned on many friends to this band and they are also hooked on this band and CD. I can't wait until their next CD comes out. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star rating is because there are only 9 songs on the CD. I wanted to hear more tunes from these guys, other than that the quality of songs are top notch and way better than 90% of what is out there in the Rock genre. Go Buy quick before these guys hit it big.
