Album Notes

Craig Sonnenfeld is a Boston based singer-songwriter. He had performed a great deal in his youth in the southern New Jersey area, but had stopped performing for many years during which he pursued careers in teaching, mental health and information technology (an industry he still works in), and also having a family.
Craig rediscovered writing and performing in the past two years. He has been a featured performer at several venues in the greater Boston area. He uses an acoustic finger-picking style for most of his compositions which in general are poetic explorations of relationships.
In his youth Craig studied folk and acoustic blues guitar with famed blues artist Philadelphia Jerry Ricks. He also won a performing and songwriting contest at a young age at the Ocean City, New Jersey Folk Festival and studied creative writing in college with poet Nikki Giovanni.

An artist to watch for; solid, warm, excellent writing.

It's hard to believe that Reverie is Craig Sonnenfeld's first release. He writes and performs like a seasoned artist. Somewhere he learned to play the guitar, that is obvious; his voicing and picking are beautiful and rich. The first track, "Junebug", will haunt you long after you've finished listening to it. There isn't a wasted word in the song, and one can only hope that Sonnenfeld will keep writing. Many Americans will relate to the funny though tragic "Talkin' Cubicle Blues". This is a wonderful, well-balanced album of traditionally-influenced folk songs. Sonnenfeld's musical style references folk and blues songs of the 60's and 70's; this is solid, satisfying music for grown-ups. After you've purchased "Reverie", you should keep tabs on Sonnenfeld's future recordings and performances; I'm sure you will be hearing more from Sonnenfeld, on the radio and elsewhere.

“Tradition” in music is a cry from the heart. It reminds us of our frailty and how much we need each other. We depend on it to recognize our loves and exorcise our demons. These original songs evoke tradition in every measure. Craig Sonnenfeld gives us childhood, bereavement, wisdom, romance, nature, regret. Nothing is compromised. His spirit does not make us feel good; it fills us with joy.
