This trio of CDs in the "Trilogy Collection" are, first, recordings I am very proud of. They are CDs that I feel are my best recordings (along with my "Continuum" CD) I've done up to now. They have great players on all of them as well as great music.
Also, this "Trilogy Collection" features music I had the pleasure of recording in the 90's. They were done for Blue Note Records. At that time, I had no idea that someday these CDs that I felt so good about at that time, would be on my own label (I didn't even have a label at that time). It is something that I can't really put into words. Except that it's one of the real high points in my career. I owe it to Bruce Lundvall and Blue Note Records for helping me in this effort. I will forever be greatly appreciative of them for this and all that they have done on my behalf.
I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.
Thank you and peace
Sonny Fortune

distilled essence of musical excellence
author: ed young/planetflamenco
trilogy shows where sonny has been and where he is going. a great introduction to his work, these CDs are a treat for any serious music lover. sonny interprets challenging material with aplomb and panache and achieves a better understanding of some of his earlier compositions. fortune is among a small handful of musicians who can rightfully be called modern masters, and his playing rewards concentration and repeated listening. deep, righteous, exciting and fun!

Three excellent CD's one box and it's some of the best Fortune too!
author: Jason Schwager
Sonny Fortune lives up to his name. Okay I'm substituting U for O in his first name: this guy is full of light and I hope music this good makes a fortune for him. It is rare to get three excellent Fortune CD's (at $10 each!) especially when it is almost impossible to get new discs of the originals. How smart of Fortune to box them up like this. Great music by a living alto master.
