We are sons of rebellion j-spliff and tyson. You may be asking yourself, what is a son of rebellion? Who is a son or daughter of rebellion? What is freedom reborn? We will try to answer all of these questions. We do not claim to have answers to the problems of the world. This humble piece of our collective expression is a glimpse into our experiences and struggles. We hope this project,Freedom Reborn, will provide a foundation for community, healing, and discussion. Please listen to this with an open heart and mind. In sha'Allah (God willing) this project will benefit us all in some way. Either a reminder for some, or an introduction for others. A son or daughter of rebellion: This concept encompasses all decendants of oppression and struggle throughout the entire world. j-spliff, a Pilipino-American is a descendant of millions who have been raped, murdered, enslaved, and controlled by the Spanish, American powers, and now
neo-colonialism. tyson, a African-American is a descendant of those who toiled on American plantations, and who are still fighting for survival to this day all throughout the world. In the last generation we have witnessed our people fight back against the many forces that have enslaved,
and oppressed us for centuries. We are products of those struggles. We are products of the uncompromising spirit of rebellion. This makes us sons of rebellion.
Freedom Reborn- Rebellion and Revolution are a people's attempt at change. The goal of rebellion and revolution is to obtain the opportunity to determine what will be and what will not be for a people. In other words, FREEDOM. This freedom has been denied to us for to long, it is
our fight and struggle to bring freedom back into the world. It is time for a rebirth, and "those" in power cannot do this. Our task as sons and daughters of rebellion is to give birth to freedom once again. Come on yall, let's get free. j-spliff and tyson =)

Ok, forget about the CD Baby rating system for now, I'm going to use my own system.

If you're a fan of story telling hip-hop with lyrics that actually speak the truth, then Freedom Reborn should suit your needs beautifully. If you limit yourself to isten to nothing but commercial/pop-culture rap, then perhaps this cd won't appeal to you. Sons of Rebellion speak the truth, and teach listeners some deep and meaningful facts. If your a fan of Immortal Technique, you might want to check this CD out. Below is my rating system

Lyrics/Message - 9/10
Beat/Melody - 7/10
Hook - 7/10
Flow/Delivery - 7.5/10
Sound Quality - 7/10
Replay Value - 5/10 *
Overall (not an average): 8.5/10

*Replay Value, this varies depending if you're in the mood for storytelling, historical facts, etc. I decided to split this down even from 10.

The lyrics are dope, beats are sick too. Definately a CD worth picking up, especially for the listeners that are just getting into non-commercial hip-hop. If you listen to this CD, you'll understand the struggles that many people face, not just in the past but even today. I hope this review makes sense because this review was done when I was tired haha
