Sonya is an anointed singer, songwriter, and worship leader who, for the past five years, has been developing in her call to the music ministry like never before. Sonya accepted Christ at a very young age at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, under the former pastorate of now Bishop Quincy L. Carswell, where she sang in the youth choir. Sonya continued to sing throughout her adolescent years and eventually became a soloist and directress for the gospel choir at her college, the University of West Georgia. After college, Sonya became the lead female vocalist for a Jazz/R&B band based in her hometown, Atlanta, called Soft Notes Entertainment.

Sonya relocated to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in the Fall of 2000, where she became a member of the Spirit of Faith Christian Center (SOFCC), under the pastorate of Dr. Michael A. Freeman. She has made tremendous contributions to the music department at SOFCC, singing both lead and background with the eight-voice ensemble, Voices of Faith. Sonya is also a valued member of the praise and worship team and previously a key member of the SOFCC choir. Sonya has also been a featured soloist for the Women's ministry, the Single's ministry, and the Drama ministry, and has been featured on the Faith News broadcast at SOFCC.

Sonya has been writing songs since her youth, and in the Fall of 2004, embarked upon a journey that would result in her debut CD, which she co-produced, entitled I Worship. The project was produced by Christopher Lewis, former Light Records recording artist and 2004 Soul Train Music Awards nominee, who is most noted for his work with artists such as Judith McCallister and Mark Kibble of Take 6 from his sophomore project entitled Rhythm & Praise. Sonya wrote 8 of the 10 tracks on the I Worship recording, and looks forward to recording more of her original material on her sophomore project, which she eagerly anticipates performing live.
