I composed the main theme of this song thinking about my first child to come. Tears were dropping on the keyboard while the melody was taking shape under my fingers and an overwhelming feeling of gratitude was passing through my soul. I felt blessed I could express my impressions in such a way. I had a great theme, I felt, with a very laid-back tempo. I decided to let the instruments take control of the orchestration and created a long piece with three different style sections and a much faster pace.
A couple of months later, Njara came along and did his vocal improvisation right away, quite impressive. Good voice, full of freshness and positive vibes. We did only 2 takes in total. I then reworked the entire song and spent considerable time on the production side, trying to balance the instruments so that each had enough breathing space, making the track punchier as well.
I had the track played at a couple of parties, with warm reception (people danced!), but could not come to a decision on what to do : leave the entire track as a hybrid with various styles in, or split it and make various remixes. I felt I would break the magic. I thought I needed help from someone else. It took me a couple of months and years actually to realize that the answers were to be found in me. I just needed the discipline to make the tough choices.
So I made two versions. "We can make it" is the original pop/dance piece with the main theme as the starting point. "Tonight" is the dance/trance version.
I hope you will like them and that you will feel their vibes coming through you.
Best,
G
