Album Notes

Sophia's songwriting and recordings have reached millions of music and television lovers worldwide. Whether it's a hit daytime TV show or a Top 10 artist in southeast Asia, Sophia's songs are in high demand...

When it comes to songwriting for top recording artists, Sophia has already established quite a name for herself in Asia with cuts on Sony/BMG, Warner Music Indonesia, Linfair/DECCA Taiwan, NAR Records Malaysia, and Alfa/BMG Taiwan. In her native country of Indonesia, her songs have been recorded by former MTV Asia VJ, Shanty, Indonesian POPSTARS winners, Sparx, and the newest Indonesian Idol winner, Mike! She also had her own Indonesian language album, "Di Sini," released through major label distributor, Bulletin Musik / Indo Semar Sakti.

Through her work with Heavy Hitters music publishing in New York, Sophia has had dozens of her songs placed over 100 times on network and cable TV shows airing in North America and Europe including The Jamie Kennedy Experience (WB), The Handler (CBS), Soul Food (Showtime), The Young and The Restless (CBS), One Life To Live (ABC), All My Children (ABC), That's Life (CBS), Passions (NBC). Not satisfied with only off-camera work, Sophia also wrote for and starred in a kids' show in Singapore.

Sophia has been very grateful to work with many talented songwriters and producers during her musical exploits. Her co-writers include Dow Brain & Brad Young (LFO, Joey McIntyre), James Day (Curb Records, Virgin Records, POPSTARS Australia), Brad Hatfield (Boston Pops), Frank Heiss (Liquid Sky, Harvest/EMI, Whole Tone, Smile), Elizabeth Jordan (Whisper Loud), Pat 0'Donnell, Michael Terry, Lee Young and, of course, her equally talented husband, Philip Levy.

Sophia's journey began in Jakarta, Indonesia where, as an ethnic Chinese, she was born and raised. Her piano and ballet lessons early on eventually led to her attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After graduating with a Cum Laude degree in Music Synthesis, she settled in New York where she and her husband Philip set up their production company and studio, Philosophi Productions. Sophia currently resides in Fairfax, VA where her other interests include dance, modeling, and cooking!

Gimme more!

I guess this album classifies as "pop", but it is so much more than that and so far beyond any of the typical female pop acts receiving radio rotation. Very innovative music that has elements of so many genres (house, electronica, hip-hop, rock), yet sounds so balanced. My only complaint is that she doesn't have more albums out!

Sophisticated electro-pop that retains upbeat, youthful style.

Danceable, delightful, and unexpectedly sophisticated, this young Indonesian-born solo artist sets the table with electric drum beats, and serves bouncy and uber-poppy melodies as the appetizer. I couldn’t help but think of Bjork for a vocal comparison, but she bends the boundaries to more of a pop-radio sound that to some, is perhaps a little more accessible than the Icelandic siren. The main course consists of the actual songs and the thought put into them. They’re, dynamic, quite intelligently written. Here there is a bit of a Madonna comparison, but they’re more like Bjork songs slightly rewritten and remixed for pop radio. For desert: cool and weird sound effects and synths. And the flavor is oh so good.
