The Making of "This Long Road"

Clubhouse Records lyricist and musician, John Sorrells, has been around the music scene writing pieces for television programming and opening for local concerts. In 2000, he was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Television Crafts: Best Composer for a Fox Sports show "Count Down to Signing Day." Although he has many musical successes, recording his first CD was a personal dream come true.

The musicians on the album include: Peter Stroud, Guitarist for Sheryl Crow and Don Henley; Adam Nitti, Bassist for Angie Aparo; Tom Knight, a drummer previously with Stevie Nicks, Pink and currently with TLC, and Tom Gross, a local studio session keyboardist.

"Sorrells' laid back American Rock style is self described as "travelling music." The name of the CD is "This Long Road" and contains lyrics about "ironies in everyday life to which everyone can relate." "Some trains go nowhere yet people still board," is a line from the song "Something to Think About." O'Brian said this is the kind of music for when you are traveling on Route 66, on open road, no curves for a thousand miles, it's arid and warm - this is the CD that will keep you going."

"John Mellencamp, Edwin McCain and James McMurtry get in a blender and the cocktail that is created is John Sorrells" Enjoy the ride.

REFRESHING and lyrically soothing.

John writes with true emotion. From the first song, John let's you know that there is still a lot he longs to learn, yet at the same time can't understand. Each song takes you on a journey that begs the question--Is he 60 years old or has he the poetic justice at 27 to make us feel he has lived through a lot! To give you an idea of the talent on this CD, John is using Sheryl Crow's guitarist Peter Stroud and ex- TLC drummer Tom Knight. These guys blend incredibly with what John is trying to emote. I would like to find out more about this artist, if he has more music and where he may be playing next. If anyone can help me with this, I will credit you on his next big label CD!
