Album Notes

The American Heritage CD is composed of 18 selections from 65 original marches, written and arranged for concert band between 2003 and 2009 by jBosserman and recorded by the Sounds Of Sousa Concert Band.. The music is in the style of American march composers Sousa, King, and Fillmore, and refelects different aspects of the American scene, including depiction of monuments in Washington D.C., Fourth of July parade and fireworks, big top circus events, patrotic marches honoring the flag, veterans, U.S. Marines, and all things red, white, and blue. Also a march dedicated to graduates, young and old, the ATO fraternity, Wake Forest and Ohio University programs, First Capital Festival, Kings Island and Cedar Point amusement parks, and marches to young entertainment personalities Max Baldry and Jordan Jansen. A march composed for a loyal cannine pet, a march for all polka dancers, and a march representing the American ideal of world freedom.

The Sounds Of Sousa Band was created by Marcus Neiman in 1992 to celebrate the centennial of the formation of John Philip Sousa’s first non-military professional band. The ensemble is composed of professional musicians from the Northeast Ohio area with the intent to present music from not only the great era of concert bands, but also the music of today. The ensemble is recognized as one of the outstanding professional concert bands in the region. Marcus Neiman, artistic director and conductor, and Mark Tryon, associate conductor of the Sounds of Sousa Band served as conductors for the recording of these marches. The jBosserman march CD was recorded in two sessions on November 22, 2009 and May 23, 2010. Comments concerning this CD can be submitted on the www.marchking.com website.
