Album Notes

Not since Montana Blue wowed audiences years ago and then disappeared, have we heard such polished harmony as that displayed by Sons of the Rio Grande. No rough edges here. No rustic delivery. Slick as a proverbial hound's tooth!

This new CD of 13 songs contains a nice mix of old and new, with acoustic accompaniment. Guitarist & lead vocalist Walen Mickey composed two, fiddler & tenor vocalist Rob Croft one, and they collaborated on another. Bassist and baritone vocalist Larry Ruebush rounds out the trio. Other songs include J. Bullock's "Ponies," Gene Autry's "Rhythm of the Hoofbeats," Johnny Bond's "Cimarron" and Bob Nolan's "Mystery of His Way." Lots of diverse music and these fellows handle it well.

This New Mexico trio is going places, for sure.

Excellent music, great fellows in the group, and if you can hear them live, run, don't walk, to the venue.

Way above average!

Some new melodies in classic western tradition, plus satisfying renditions of several classics. Good harmony and instrumentation. Title song is especially memorable.

I love the song God must be a cowboy and rythm of the hoofbeats. Anyone who rides horses can relate to these songs. Just ride and open your eyes and listen. I love this CD. One of the best Ive heard in a long time. A must have for any cowboy or cowgirls collection.
