Album Notes

After being born and raised in southern California playing waterpolo, ocean lifeguarding and doing lots of bodysurfing, I yearned to see what life was all about outside of my little bubble. I traveled all over the world with a tent, a mask & snorkel, and a guitar after graduating from UC San Diego. I wanted to learn all the things they do not teach you of in college....and to teach myself to be a singer/songwriter and a guitarist/harmonica player.
I hiked, sailed, and climbed for many, many years to some of the most beautiful places on the planet both above and below water to write some music and search for the eternal answers. I hitch-hiked through South Africa and Zimbabwe, I sailed through Mexico and Indonesia, I climbed mountains in Thialand and Nepal....and I was writing and performing my tunes around bonfires on beaches, riverbanks, and mountain tops for travelers and locals alike all over the world.
Then I started playing music in bars in places like Costa Rica, Fiji, and New Zealand for beer and dinner. When I eventually came back home to "the OC," I found that my music was the "gold" that I had been seeking in these 23 countries I had visited and that I was passionate about the music I was creating.....but that I needed to put down the backpack and explore other things for a while.....like recording some music. I then moved onto a sailboat for 4 years and wrote, recorded and performed tunes as I lived, floated and sailed all over the eastern Pacific Ocean from Los Angeles to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico.
For the past couple years, I've gone back to living as a "land-lover" and am recording my original music while playing in bars and nightclubs from southern California to northern Colorado. The international "travel bug" never left me, however, so I still wander off to far-away lands whenever I can squeeze in a few weeks of "inspiration time".
So far, I've released three CD's on my own indie Wookie Wook Sound label, I've opened up for some of my musical heroes, and I've made many friends seeking out an American audience for my Universal Acoustic Rock music....and I'm just getting started. In the past couple years, I've shared the stage with Eddie Money, Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band, Tim Reynolds (Dave Matthews Band), Drew Emmitt Band (Leftover Salmon), The Samples, Subdudes, Rocco DeLuca, The Mother Hips and lots of other great acts......as well as headlining at some big indoor and outdoor venues around the world.
I call myself an Acoustic Warrior....because that's what I feel I am. I'm a self-taught solo performing artist fighting against over-population, environmental destruction and dull living, among other things.
I record, mix and master all my music myself as well as play all the instruments. Live music is just better by nature, though, and playing live for me is inspired by the natural surroundings where my music was born. Come see me play....what you'll hear is real, independent, internationally-grown music from the heart of an Acoustic Warrior! And the long, strange journey continues on...
