SOULEYE (born Mario Treadway)’s career formally started after he won a spot on Jam Cruise in 2005, a contest put on by Relix magazine that included members of P-Funk, Les Claypool, Digable Planets, Michael Franti, Bella Fleck and Bassnectar. His love of writing began as a young 10 year old man in Massachusetts where he was born and raised. Post-Jam Cruise, SOULEYE has performed with such Dj’s and mc’s such as Bassnectar (for two years), The Glitch Mob, String Cheese Incident, Michael Franti, Sound Tribe Sector 9, and has performed at festivals Coachella, Burning Man, Ultra Music Festival, South By Southwest, Symbiosis, Harmony and Shambhala as well as numerous others across America, Canada, Europe and Australia.

SOULEYE’s freestyling prowess has earned him rave reviews and a rabid following who look to him for his ability to use his wordplay in ways heretofore never heard. His unusual and powerful style is evident in songs such as “SPIN THE BOTTLE” and “NIGHT OWL”, on his albums “BALANCE IN BABYLON” and “INTERGALACRIC VIBES”, respectively. He’s been touted as “hip hop’s medicine man” and “America’s new leading edge voice” and “a modern day hip hop warrior”. With over 500 shows under his belt, he continues to hone his unparalleled ability to freestyle and slay his sweaty and hungry audiences, who look to him for guidance, inspiration and profound entertainment. SOULEYE was clearly born to write rhymes and perform.

Having guest appeared on albums with such artists as Random Rab, Bassnectar, Sound Tribe Sector 9, and Mimosa, each of SOULEYE’s contributions left a gift and stamp of Souleye’s indelible style.

SOULEYE’s rhymes found him on CMJ’s top 20 charts for 6 weeks straight. his stream of consciousness brevity allows him to write prolifically as well as powerfully performing his own inimitable songs. Joining several popular mc’s onstage to freestyle and take his colleague’s shows to a whole other level, his style combines his silky vocal tonality, and subject matters that speak to the everyman who needs an injection of bravery, unapologetic poetic and picturesque specificity about life as a young man in the 21st century, all drizzled in his unique voice over bad ass beats.

Having worked with critically acclaimed producers such as Jeff Saltzman (the killers) and Lateef the truth speaker, SOULEYE is currently at work on his new album in Los Angeles.
