Album Notes

Sound Bytes is the combination of two artists; Steve Dromensk and Dave Kibler. They began their musical careers in the 60's. Steve, from Santa Clara, CA (south of San Francisco) put a band together in 1965 called The Zu, which then became Goodie Two Shoes, and finally, (with all the same members) and under his leadership, became Papa Du Run Da Run in 1972. The band is still performing today as Papa Doo Run Run. In 1994 Steve joined with long time friend and studio musician Dave Kibler to form Sound Bytes. Dave began performing as a teenager back in 1963. His group, The Cobras, played all around the Monterey, CA area, as Dave became known for his exceptional guitar playing. That ability led Dave into the recording studio where he was to meet up with Steve in 1973. From that point on whenever Steve needed some excellent guitar tracts he'd call on Dave. He'd also enlist Dave to work on all his guitars as Dave had become an expert on guitar and amp repair. In 1994 Steve was requested by a former high school teacher to put on a one man act for a senior all night party at his alma matre, Cupertino High School. He immediatly thought of Dave (who was stepping into the wonderful world of computer/techno/rock and roll) as a way to pull off a one man performance with a five man sound. As they rehearsed the show for two months everyone who would drop by were fascinated by the incredible music the two guys were producing. It had a true authenticity to it while retaining a full live production quality. One reason was they were doing cover tunes of the 50's & 60's music that they grew up with and knew how to get just the right "texture" to the sound. The other was that through there many years of performing they had develoed into gifted artists and entertainers and brought that talent to the show. With the rave reviews and requests to do it again Sound Bytes was born. After awhile demand for their versions of hot rod and surf songs(their favorite music)prompted them to record their first CD titled "Sun & Surf and Steve & Dave"), followed by "Flamin' Guitars", Cruisin'with Steve & Dave, and their latest "Have a Rockin' Merry Christmas". It is great. Lively. We were trying to use it for a performance of the Cracked Nut but it was too short. So we used the whole thing in a parade.
