Album Notes

SOUNDESTINY is a Folk Rock group known for its concept albums. Their songs abound with adventure, drama, romance and passion interwoven with driving melodic music. They aim to transport you to another time and place, into the heart of an adventure that grips you completely. Here you will experience all the events and emotions of the characters as the tale unfolds.

Soundestiny albums are strongly theme oriented...dark, dangerous and exciting journeys into the unknown. In their world, a love song is not merely a love song...it becomes a passionate exchange between characters central to the story. Let the music with its themes of love, anger, fear, friendship and devotion envelop your heart and mind.

The band's debut album 'Shadow Rising' features songs inspired by the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. It was released in late 2004 and is the first album in their two-part 'Ringlord' saga. The second disc in this project 'Winds of Change' will be released in 2007. Together, these albums highlight the heroic quest that saw men, elves, wizards, dwarves, and a small hero defeat dark and evil forces.

This album combines the talents of Darryl Grant Potter (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Elissa Maclean (vocals), Julia Lefik (vocals), Michael Bohl (guitars, bass), Greg Tschernez (drum programming, bass), & Paul Lines (vocals).

REVIEWS

Amazingly well done. Indepth understanding of Tolkien
author: Reilley
Shadow Rising has accomplished an amazingly difficult feat by setting the Lord of the Rings to music and verse. It all fits like a hand in a glove. Shadow Rising is a journey of very talented singers and songwriters each with an indepth understanding of Tolkiens Lord of the Rings. Shadow Rising, like Peter Jacksons Lord of the Rings has been done with incredible attention to detail. Heart and soul has been burned into this CD. Now as with Jacksons Lord of the Rings I must sit on the edge of my seat waiting for the next chapter.................. how will they ever top this?

A superb collection of themed original material penned by master songwriters
author: Mik Llewes
This is without doubt the single, most refreshing production that I have heard in a very long time. In this age of studio over-production, talentless pop-sham, and cRap it is heartening to hear a collection of accessable, original songs penned by musicians who are clearly master songwriters. The essential tools of trade used to craft this outstanding themed contribution (unashamedly inspired by the works of Tolkien), are quality lyrics, catchy tunes and strong vocals. The 5th track - Your Burning Love rates as my personal favourite, followed closely by the final hidden track. Superb.

This is an excellent collection of songs
author: Stephanie Clark (Alabama)
This album is one of the most creative and thought provoking I have had the pleasure of listening to since Carmel Morris' album, Another Number in 2001. This collection of skilfully written songs takes the listener on an extraordinary journey through a magical world and is by far the best tribute to Tolkien's work that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Soundestiny, you are brilliant!
