If you look up the word prolific in the dictionary you will see a picture of Rick Reynolds. This is Sounding Rick's sixth album release in just 24 months! "Living in the Acoustic Projects" is something new; it is an acoustic concept album that represents a departure from Sounding Rick's other high-energy releases. From the first few seconds of narration at the beginning, you are taken on a trip to a six-string-ghetto on the wrong side of town where hope and creativity still live.
There are songs with humor at the core ("Eddie at the Window","Wave With Me", "Old Fashioned Crime") mixed with straight Americana, Folk, Blues, Gospel and Jazz. The great "Queen of the Rare Groove", Gwen McCrae lends her killer vocals to several of the songs ("It's a Shame", "Out in the Crowd", Lord God and the outstanding "Putting out a Fire on a Burning Bridge"). Gwen had several top 10 R&B hits back in the 70's including "Rocking Chair" Rick also drafted other great players to the project like his brother Rusty who plays guitar on a couple of songs as well as penning one of his own for he album ("She's Leaving").
If you are a Sounding Rick fan or just looking for something catchy, fun and easy to listen to, “Living in the Acoustic Projects” is a rite of audio passage you will savor for years to come.
