SoundRabbit formed as a four piece band in April of 2007, releasing their first album, This Room Becomes A Crowd, in November of that year. In its short history as a band, SoundRabbit has already graced the Main Stage of the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater (Morrison CO), the Bluebird Theatre (Denver CO), the Boulder Theatre (Boulder CO), Fox Theater (Boulder CO), Nectar's (Burlington VT), Jazzhaus (Lawrence KS), the Main Stage of the 2008 Tempe Music Festival in Arizona, and countless colleges and venues from Phoenix to Des Moines to New York City to Portland, Maine.
They've proudly shared the stage with incredible artists including Band of Horses, Keller Williams, TV on the Radio, Bill McKay of Leftover Salmon, the Gin Blossoms, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Avett Brothers, Ryan Montbleau Band, Cowboy Mouth, Matthew Moon, the Meat Puppets, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, among others.
SoundRabbit has a fervent grassroots following with whom they stay intimately involved through their web-based "Backstage" membership program. The Backstage program is SoundRabbit's vision of the future of the music industry, giving fans access to unlimited music and loads of other content, all the while generating revenues for charities and social causes through the community. In early 2009, SoundRabbit completed their second album, Tree Trunk Airplanes, followed by their first show of the year at the famed Fox Theatre in their hometown of Boulder, Colorado.
"With their sophomore effort, Tree Trunk Airplanes, [SoundRabbit] could well multiply their reach exponentially. The band has said that the open soundscape throughout Tree Trunk Airplanes mirrors the never-ending blue skies that stretch over the Rocky Mountains. I would agree. "Vast" is a particularly apropos word to characterize the songs, which sound kind of like fellow 'rado residents String Cheese Incident, minus the jam. Here, it’s all about the song writing. By far the album’s greatest number, “Machine,” seems to combine the best elements of all the previous songs into one lush orchestral voyage. A very cool sonic-travel from undirected space to a concentrated, riff-centered ascent, guarantees that this song will exist effortlessly in the world jam. This is a good album, by a good band, which should be well-received on all levels."
