Album Notes

Sounds For The South is an official registered charity, set up to fund donations to the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. Through donations from musicians and the general public we have made a compilation album, which is to be sold for the benefit of Christchurch.

Throughout 15 months, the people of Christchurch have experienced 5 major earthquakes and over 8,000 aftershocks while watching their city fall around them. The rebuild will take approximately 10 years, and with the ongoing aftershocks it appears Christchurch are stuck stuck in a "two steps forward, one step backward" situation. It was announced in March that the rebuild would cost upwards of $30 billion, however with more significant aftershocks that figure is likely to have risen even further.

We decided to create a product to ensure an ongoing source of income for the Earthquake Appeal rather than a single donation. 80% is directly donated to the appeal, with 20% offering reinvestment in album pressing. This model ensures Sounds For The South can meet the costs involved with the album, and making your money go further. Sounds For The South is run entirely by volunteers, so you can be assured we aren't personally benefitting from is.

Our first album covers a wide range of genres, from pop, rock and easy listening, to folk and country, to hard rock. There's something for everyone, and it is for a great cause! Grab yourself a copy, and help spread the word.
