best band I've heard in years and years

these guys are double amazing. this Big Top record is an excellent first effort but their latest (S/T) record (hope to see it here soon) is a game-changer. I still know a lot of musicians but generally dread when they ask me to come see their bands because I'm old and bitter and stuff doesn't excite me anymore like it did 30 years ago when I saw the Screamers and the Germs. these guys are a fantastic exception. watching their show and onstage presence in the form of Martin and Pudding and Creme Filling makes me feel lucky that I'm still seeing them in a little club and not the huge venues I feel they're destined for. if anyone in this retarded industry ever fucking notices that is. they'll hate me for it but the stuff they remind me of are early 70s Bowie, The Tubes, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Hedwig and The Angry Inch. excellent music, excellent lyrics, excellent execution and fucking rockstar charisma to burn.

They are the soundtrack for an abstract animated soap opera.

Awesome! This CD is on rotation in my walkman and in my car! My favorite song is Fluorescent Lighting and Isabelle which is kinda like a spanish rock torch song. They sound like nothing I've ever heard. But if I had to descibe them I would say they are the soundtrack for an abstract animated soap opera.

Refreshing debut album from a unique, powerful band
author: Jeff
Big Top Hotel is a formidable debut album. Each band member is incredibly talented as a musician and bandmate. Their individual gifts as musicians gel perfectly on this great album. I rated this album as 4 stars; this is given in comparson with every great album from every great artist in rock history. Their satirical lyrics take a well-deserved stab at pop culture, drawing blood with every attempt. Modern Rock NEEDS this band. Period. Self-important mainstream music needs an enema. This is the band that can do it, without even trying. Any major record label with any intelligence would be all over this band.
