Welcome to the Explosive Urban Music Sound from the Northside. “Sound Street Records Compilation Volume 1” is a fine mix of smooth/soulful R&B and hard hitting Hip Hop that have been variously described as a DJ and radio stations delight. The various artists featured in this compilation includes;

(1) Tef & Don (Hip Hop Duo)- Welcome to the Northside Swang. This phrase best captures the musical style of this Canadian Hip Hop sensation. Tef & Don have been in the Rap/HipHop game for over 10 years. However, their big break came in summer 2001 when their first single “ Fiesta” hit the number one spot on Canadian #1 radio station (Flow 93.5FM). Since then, this Hip Hop sensation have continuously released songs that have redefined and set new standards for the Canadian Hip Hop scene. Their first music video titled “Girls Girls” featured on BET, MTV, MTV 2, MUCH MUSIC (Canada), Channel U (UK), Channel O (South Africa and the rest of Africa) in summer 2004. Tef & Don have been special guests on major BET events including 2004 BET Music Awards, BET rap it up Ft Lauderdale, Florida (2004) and Atlanta Peachtree Festival (2004). Their upcoming album titled “THUG PRETTY” has been hailed as the finest and first official Rap/Hip Hop album coming out of Canada. Tef & Don’s music is a DJ and radio stations delight, as they constantly deliver music with strong appealing melodies, seasoned with catching hooks and lyrics that have universal appeal. (2) N-Jay (R&B)-Born in Toronto, raised in Los Angeles. N-Jay is a composer, a lyrical genius, a natural born singer and a great entertainer who is constantly striving to drop the biggest bombshell in urban music history. His musical style has been variously compared to that of Usher, R. Kelly and Luther Vandross. He is the master of midnight love songs. Over the years, he has won the hearts of thousands of women around the world with his soul soothing midnight love songs. Since age 10, N-Jay was privileged to have worked alongside his mother who did a lot of background singing with Quincy Jones in Los Angeles. His upcoming album titled “Page One” is a combination of soulful love songs and club banging tracks that have been tagged a “Platinum Plus” album.

(3) Tash (R&B)-With beauty and raw vocal talent, nurtured by a world of gospel music since age 8, Tash has become an R&B sensation in the Canadian music scene. This 19 years old female R&B sensation has a voice that is soon not forgotten, it has power, beauty and it soothes the soul. With her crystalline voice, this young R&B sensation is poised to lead the next generation of R&B icons.

(4) Jo Kezy (Rap/Hip Hop)-Welcome to the world of the most fearsome and unrepentant gangster. Jo Kezy’s sound is raw and heart pounding, a lyrical master who hones his rhymes to a perfect art. He brings a rare and uncut style to the Rap/Hip Hop game. In the rap game where other artists seems to be spitting on the mic, Jo Kezy lays it down like a hammer to an anvil. Born to a religious Christian family, but raised on the streets. Jo Kezy has never lived a charmed life. Shot at many times since age 13 and constantly on guard for his life. In September 2004 at age 18, Jo Kezy was charged with first degree murder. In November 2005 after one month of trial, Jo Kezy was found not guilty for want of evidence. Jo Kezy is a Rap/Hip Hop prophet, philosopher and social crusader. He is the real deal and the new kid on the block.

(5) GQ Numberone (Hip Hop)- A legend is Born. Gifted and talented is what comes through the loudspeakers when GQ Numberone comes on. GQ’s style is a fine combination of Biggie Small and Shine’s musical style. Ladies and gentlemen, the stage is now set for a rebirth of what has been amiss in the world of Hip hop.
