Album Notes

SOUP is a project that started spontaneously in 2008 when three great friend, Vinnie Colaiuta, Marcello Cosenza and myself, Saverio \"Sage\" Principini, started to get together at my place in the Valley (LA), cooking, eating, sharing laughter and music.
This is journey not confined by the hard rules of commercial media and it dares to explore any style of music that at the time of creation and recording felt appropriate and inspiring.
The name comes from Vinnie who thought that what we were really doing was cooking a soup with so many different delicious ingredients... many inside jokes started to come up and nickname as well after varieties of veggies...
Marcello at the end of dinner would pick up a guitar, Vinnie would play a 5 gallon empty water bottle and I would tag along on bass or flute or whatever other instrument was laying around... at that time of my life Sage Studio had become a hang out place with musicians/friends stopping by almost every evening...or at any time really... so collaborations on this one were easy to start and that is why we have so many beautiful guests on this project.
Eventually we got into a bigger studio and performed the original ideas into what is now From 8 To Infinite, then we swapped files and I started to visit studios of friends like John Beasley and Chad Fischer, and other sessions were recorded with live strings and other talents like Quene, Alex Alessandroni, T.E. Russell.
I can say I am pretty proud to have had the luxury to produce this work, futuristic yet vintage, boarder-less and open, analogue and digital, rarely I felt this much freedom and growth with fellow musicians, simply an incredible journey for me... in fact... guys come on over for dinner and lets cook another SOUP !
