Album Notes

Review: Tankboy, donewaiting.com

"With this recording the band has finally shed its influences and come into its own. The songs hit hard and the group has at last compiled a really solid collection of killer riffs and terrific lyrics. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that their current rhythm section of drummer Trip Smalls and bassist Evan (what the hell is his last name?) is the most powerful yet groovy combo the band has ever seen. New songs "Cranky" and "White Noise" attack with layers of harmonies and hooks to spare and reworked oldies like "Sleeper Car" are rebuilt on a massive canvas of sonic fury. Jamie's vocals swagger and saunter over Greg's chunka-chunk guitars and the whole thing just reaches out and throttles the hell out of you."

Bio: from sourdeluxe.com

Sour Deluxe formed from a seven year collaboration by guitarist/vocalist Jamie Jacobs and guitarist Greg Jones. The band has been impressing audiences and listeners around the world for nearly five years with their unique blend of psychedelic rock and brit-pop that immediately sets them apart from other bands. Jamie's powerful voice and emotionally charged lyrics have brought her acclaim as one of the most respected front people in the Chicago music scene. Utilizing an impressive combination of tools as well as talent, Greg has painstakingly crafted the lush guitar sound that gives Sour Deluxe its own voice. In 1999, Sour Deluxe released the Manchester EP which was met with instant approval from press, radio, venues, and fans alike. In 2002, Sour Deluxe welcomed Evan Hydzik and Trip Small into the fold, who have been involved in the Chicago music scene for several years, and have played with each other in bands and studio sessions for some time. With Hydzik on bass and Small on drums, Sour Deluxe now has a formidable rhythm section to complete their lineup.
