Album Notes

"Recently when asked if there were any bands today that still play with the passion and feeling of the past pioneers of acoustic music my answer was, yes, The South Carolina Broadcasters." ~Johnny Williams (Grasstank Music)

"If lonesome is what ails you, this homecoming music is the cure.
It takes great musicians to effect such a cure. And great musicians,
which the South Carolina Broadcasters most assuredly are, begin as
great listeners. They listen more deeply than the rest of us,
listening not just to but into the music, and so command the capacity
to take us with them. Listening to these tunes will take you into the
true “old time,” that mythic dimension where whatever the actual
circumstances of lives might have been that brought us to this present
juncture translate into “bumming an old freight train” and the longing
for redemption becomes a calling out to “take me in your lifeboat.”

Nick Bozanic

The South Carolina Broadcasters are an award winning old-time trio with modern day appeal. Featuring Ivy Sheppard (fiddle, banjo, guitar, vocals), David Sheppard (guitar, vocals), and Grace Kennedy (banjo, 'tit fer, vocals), their tight harmonies and exceptional instrumentation give The Broadcasters a powerful old-time sound. Drawing their inspiration from the Carter Family and early country duos, The Broadcasters aim to keep alive the roots of American traditional music. The timeless themes of their songs and tunes speak to the universal human condition and transcend the whims and fads of popular culture. They have won blue ribbons at fiddler's conventions, and have taken standing ovations in hard core rock-n-roll venues. The South Carolina Broadcasters are one of those special bands that comes along every once in a while. All three members share a common vision and obsessive passion about the music they are playing. This little mission band is on a mission.
