*****************
The compilation CD entitled "Southern Belles Raising Hell" will be released on March 8, 2002, International Women's Day, followed by a series of CD Release events taking place throughout the month of March and throughout the Southeast.
Proceeds from the CD will aid in the production of the Ladyfest event scheduled for October 10-13, 2002.
The double CD boasts 32 tracks from some of the South's finest female bands and plays host to a variety of genres including rock, punk, blues, spoken word, jazz, pop and folk .
Two VERY special guests include Ladyfest East Performer and Slam Poet Alix Olson and a previously unreleased track from Ladyfest London band Katastrophy Wife featuring Kat Bjelland (formerly of Babes in Toyland)! Some Southern based highlights include contributions from Atlanta's local legend Michelle Malone, South Carolina's country/folk/punk chanteuse Danielle Howle, Austin's quirky pop duo Vera Takes The Cake (formerly The Ginger and Sarah Band), New Orleans avant garde, cowpunk heroine Myshkin, Tallahassee newcomers Miss July and Florida based, rebel, noise troupe Stella Marie.
ABOUT LADYFEST SOUTH
The revolutionary feminist assembly we call Ladyfest began in Olympia, Washington, as a celebration of the artistic and intellectual pursuits of women, and marked the 80th anniversary of a woman's right to vote in this country. Ladyfest Olympia opened the door to a new landscape where people of all backgrounds could come together in the spirit of dissemination and appreciation of independent feminist arts and thinking, and beckoned us all to find a home there. And we have.
Ladyfest South, to be held on October 10-13, 2002, in Atlanta, GA, will bring a diverse array of artists and thinkers to the South, and much needed funds to a select, or select few, Southern-based women's organizations. Southern belles will be raisin' hell, and raining the power of art, expression, diversity, and community down on Dixie.

The CD was a nice mix. There were two songs on the second
disc that seemed a little hard to hear the lyrics over the music. All in all a very nice CD.
