Album Notes

Some of the greatest artists in American popular music have joined together to sing and play in a recorded gospel music jubilee celebrating the legendary sounds of Texas,
Nashville and the Pacific Northwest. This GRAMMY NOMINATED CD, SOUTHERN MEETS SOUL: AN AMERICAN GOSPEL JUBILEE, stars gospel and pop legends The Jordanaires, western swing masters The Light Crust Doughboys, guitar virtuoso Nokie Edwards (former lead guitarist of instrumental super-group The Ventures) and
acclaimed R&B/Jazz band leader, instrumentalist-arranger and collegiate music professor Dr. Larry "T-Byrd" Gordon.

Although mainly rooted in Southern and Country Gospel, this CD transcends musical genres with song
classics and soon-to-be classics flavored in the Gospel styles of African-American spirituals, traditional sacred and Latin beats, in addition to southern and country.

Much of SOUTHERN MEETS SOUL: AN AMERICAN GOSPEL JUBILEE was recorded and/or mixed at Dr. Gordon's recording studio in Dallas. Dr. Gordon also served the project as artist, engineer and co-producer on select tracks. Other recording personnel included legendary engineers and mixers Phil York of Dallas, Denny "CC" Knight of Nashville and Ray Walker of The Jordanaires.
