Album Notes

Soylent Red is a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia that plays a soulful blend of rock, alternative, and blues. Their music came about organically and on its own, and now they would like to share it with fellow music lovers. They are not limited to one style or genre, giving their songs variety and dynamics. Their original music features alternating wailing and crunching guitar, hypnotic, driving bass, and a powerful explosion of drums and cymbals. They also mix in clean, melodic guitar, a little bit of funk, and thoughtful lyrics, taking the listener on a roller coaster ride of music from the soul.

The band is comprised of Nick Hamil on drums, Rhianna Bailey on bass, and Brian Austin on guitars and lead vocals. Nick also sings lead, while Rhianna and Nick lend their voices for backup as well. Nick’s drumming is powerful and his fills are lightning fast. His playing can be heavy, with cymbal crashes soaring and tom rolls booming, or delicate and intricate, providing the perfect foil for the guitars. Rhianna’s bass serves as the backbone of the melodies. Funky, bluesy, or a ringing chorus of open-note beauty, she keeps the heartbeat of the songs, blending perfectly with the drums. On top of this, Brian’s guitar can be clean and soft, crunchy and dirty, ethereal and spacey, or anything in between, taking the listener on a ride through the peaks and valleys the songs create.

Soylent Red has been influenced by many different bands, from Sublime and Bob Marley to Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Mix in Tool, The Beatles, and Pearl Jam, just to name a few, and you have rock that’s not afraid to be whatever it needs to be.

Their live shows bring an energy and enthusiasm that the crowd always responds to with a variety of music sure to keep any listener interested from song to song.
