This is the debut CD from guitarist MC Squared (Gerry Kamin) and his band Space Whale. The band features Tony Medeiros on vocals and drums. The band is Los Angeles based. They have a sound described as Led Zeppelin meets Sonic Youth and their live shows are all one of a kind with the emphasis on improvisation and going new places with the music every night they play.
The CD captures the best aspects of the Space Whale sound. The songs vary from the hard pounding "Blowin Rain" to the straight ahead ballroom blues of "Ride" to the almost jazz fusion of "The Universe Goes Pop", to the groove psychedelic Rock of "Fly or Fry" and the title song "Earth's Love Moan". This is a CD with both rythymic and melodic sophistication, an extremely high energy level, and accesibility.
