Album Notes

Short Stay combines bluesy syncopated rhythms with plenty of ripping guitar solos and improvisation. "It rocks" says fans! All tunes are written by Patti Spadaro, she plays all the guitar tracks, and sings lead on "Give a Little Back" and "Watch it Fly"; and Stefana sings lead on everything else.

"Smiles spread, filling the spaces between a thousand strangers faces" is a line from the CD's title track "Short Stay", which was written as a tribute to Jerry Garcia, shortly after his passing.

This CD features some great songs with thoughtful lyrics, danceable music, a good vibe, and group improvisation. And the musicians really jam! Chuck Schmedeke (drums) and Nate Tshetter (keyboards and Hammond B-3 organ) get into some funky grooves. The band likes to open up the music and create a space where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Patti believes music can bring people together and make a difference in the world. It's also a whole lot of fun.

Patti is a creative, passionate player whose bluesy soulful guitar leads cry, sing and wail. She's recorded and released several CDs, and played all over the country with many bands and as a solo artist. She's performed on local TV shows, and her recordings have received radio airplay nation-wide. Patti recently put together a special benefit concert for Free Arts For Abused Children, an organization bringing art & music into the lives of abused children. Spadaro hosted the event and performed as the opening act for rock legends Little Feat.

Patti states "I have a wide variety of influences including rock, blues and reggae. I love to improvise and enjoy the music of the Grateful Dead and the Dave Matthew's Band. Guitarists such as Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn are also big influences. Bands with musical exploration as well as good solid song writing are my favorite. I love to get people up and dancing."

The band loves to improvise and open up the music, creating a whole greater than the sum of the parts. "Music can open minds and inspire," says Patti.
