Album Notes

'Sunflower' is Spaghetti Cake's follow-up CD to the acclaimed 2000 release, 'Jam Food'. Whereas 'Jam Food' was more innocent and carefree in spirit, 'Sunflower' takes on a rockier and edgier feel, and will appeal to adults as much as kids. There is a definite Grateful Dead/Phish vibe to many of the songs, rounded out with some heavy funk grooves, bluegrass jams, and a sweet campfire a-capaella lullaby at the end. 'Sunflower' features the same lineup of New England jam band all-stars as the last record, with the same epic, grooving performances and top shelf production. "Not for kids only!"

The cast of 'Jam Food' returned to Toddy Pond in remote Blue Hill, ME during the summer of 2001 to recapture the same warmth, laughter, and love to record 'Sunflower'. Once again, mixing guru Earl Cohen did the honours. If you liked the happiness of 'Jam Food', you'll love the passion of 'Sunflower'.

The members of Spaghetti Cake are Glen Nelson and Susan Birk (from Flipper Dave), Adam Larrabbee (from Bruce Hornsby's band), Joachim Horsley (from Littlehorse), Mike Tierney (from The Feed), and Rob Fried (from Max Creek). Engineered by John "Johnny BigRig" Roper and Owen "Rico" Muir.

Guest guitarist: Brett Connors (from Flipper Dave).
and introducing Hippiefoot as the "Man In The Moon".
Winner: 2002 USA Songwriting Competition for 'Welcome Home'.
