Album Notes

Acclaimed Milwaukee band spanglemaker is back with a new collection of songs for you. The CD, "You Want It", is the follow up to 2002's well-received "End of the Gray", which garnered great reviews locally and internationally. With comparisons to Coldplay, U2, Travis and Jeff Buckley, spanglemaker managed to appeal to a wide audience reaching far out of its midwestern home. The ONION newspaper described it as "a standout" and "superior sounding".

After a year and a half of playing in support of "End of the Gray", which culminated in a videotaped performance/interview for Time Warner's "Plugged In" series in early 2004, the boys in spanglemaker spent a few months in the studio with producer Kevin Sucher. Recording at "The Laboratory" proved to be just what the band needed. Although still lyrically introspective and full of pop hooks, the production Kevin lent the band has given the songs on "You Want It" a universal feel by making them unabashedly radio friendly.

You really do want this CD!

This CD is really awesome--I've been listening to it all weekend. I am a huge fan of intelligent lyrics--which are very much lacking in a lot of "pop/rock" music these days--and Spanglemaker consistently writes lyrics that are meaningful and touch the heart. Kudos to the whole band on a great CD--can't wait to see you guys perform these songs live!

Excellent, superb, wonderful, and "worth the price on the tag" are just a few words that can be used to describe the music of Spanglemaker. Only a few bands are capable of making a song fit both lyrically and musically; and Spanglemaker is one of the elite. Both, "You Want It" and "End of the Gray" are albums that are worth purchasing & listening to. I cannot wait for the day to buy a beer and sit back to listen to this band play live.

La scène rock américaine regorge de nombreux talents comme Stampead, the Figgs, Downpilot, et de ces merveilleuses ballades que les musiciens de Spanglemaker nous invitent à écouter pour oublier les mornes aspects de ce monde en folie; musique toute en finesse, voix somptueuse, et un son fabuleux ciselé dans une rhytmique omniprésente menée par des guitares cristalines parfois nerveuses, mais retombant quand il se doit dans la douceur et la beauté de ces ballades qui fait que Spanglemaker, avec ces deux albums, se place fièrement au firmament comme un des meilleurs groupes du moment.
