Jim e is a San Francisco based creature whose music is is essentially born from poetry. In younger years, he got a BA and MFA in Poetry Writing and taught poetry and performance poetry at the University of Oregon. At this point, music has become more central.
Jim e is essentially a lyricist and melody maker. His new CD is a selection from twenty years of work. It includes 13 songs and 2 poems. Friends took care of the musical harmonies and instrumentation, including guitars, banjo, mandolin, harp and the lovely voice of Denise Castleton. Some of the poems and lyrics have appeared in earlier books: Sucking Bananas( his master's thesis) and The Rosebud Diaries( a poetry/photography book devoted to his a** as the beloved).
The material on the CD reflects various life themes, including spirtuality(e.g. Amu, Unconditinal Love), sexuality(e.g. F**k Me Lovingly, The Rosebud Lullabye),nuero-anatomy( Smooth Brain, a Laryngeal Love Song) and often takes on a naughty, tricksterish quality(e.g. the Lord's Wiener). Jim e has been known to perform a capella naked on several occasions, and this CD reflects that quality. Naked before the world with an open heart.
