Sparrows Point fire at you from the left field torment of Tool and Slipknot with the odd hint of Manson mania and Skid Row's trad metal sensibility. Depressing, driven and devastating. -METAL HAMMER, Sept 99

Album Notes

In an age when performers find it necessary to stand behind the safety of their instruments and meekly perform their songs- Sparrows Point comes blazing to the forefront of the 90's music scene.

Restoring the glory of Rock N Roll and the thrill of a live show, Sparrows Point combines their amazing stage presence with catchy, hard driving tunes.

Embracing the spirit of Rock N Roll, The Point fulfills the promise of the escapism of music.

And if you ask anyone who has witnessed their live shows, they'll tell you- its one hell of a ride.

The Point kick some serious ass with their new release!

With their CD "How Can You Blame Me?", Sparrow's Point takes a big leap forward from their last full length recording "Throwing Rocks At God". The Point makes decisive steps, evolving in many areas while perfecting their brand of metal mayhem, but in no area more so than the almighty riff. Songs like Down the Drain, Wannabe, Brother, and Exit Wound have violently memorable riffs, courtesy of guitarist Kenny Stoned, that are equivalent to that of a buzzsaw to the cerebellum. When combined with the vocal onslaught of frontman Cip, the listener's ears are left bloody and shredded. True Margit's keyboards play an important part in fleshing out the intensity of the songs: Down the Drain is reminiscent of classic Faith No More, while Puppet has a great keyboard groove that sounds like a xylophone gone mental. The Point's treatment of Fleetwood Mac's classic song Tusk, turns the grind of the original into a dark tribal mating ritual, while the stomp shout chorus of Hungry provides a primal backdrop for a night on the wild side. Closing with a live version of "Product" and its' chanted "Hey Hey Hey's", the song shows off the intensity of the Point's live extravaganzas. The Point are definitely headed towards their own dark "destination unknown" on "How Can You Blame Me", and want you take you along for the ride. So hang on, enjoy the journey and you'll see why Sparrow's Point are SF's top nu-metal band!

Taking the sound of their EP, "Silence Makes a Sound" to the next level, Sparrows Point comes at you with a new CD and a new look. The CD kicks off with "Exit Wound" a heavy psychedelic tune which can elicit a mosh pit in your living room. "Everywhere," "Puppet," "Step To Me," "Wannabe," "When I Grow Up," and "Down the Drain" are all great heavy headbanging tunes, while "Walk Away" and "Tusk" shows the Point's mellower, yet still dark side. "Hungry"--a personal favorite of mine, is a ballsy, straight ahead rock song and is amazing to hear live. Also on this CD you get the studio version of "Brother," which you may have heard live on their Ep SMAS. This version of the song however, is distorted and heavier and sounds awesome! The CD ends with a live track called "Product" which was recorded at the Paradise Lounge in SF. You'll be screaming "HEY HEY HEY!" by the time this song is over. After listening to their first CD, "Throwing Rocks At God", and then listening to HCYBM, you can hear a definite growth within the band and the music. This is one of those CD's that the more you listen to it the more you love it.
