Superficial bitches beware, this boy is a deadly sharp cookie for real, and if this be ‘shoegazer’ fodder, then let that electro- energy surround me baby.
Because the guitars and FX just meld intensely with dark lyrical themes and embracingly ominous anthems, and by third song ‘Just Like You’, you strain to hear the whispers over the backbeats and all you want is more: A clanging guitar shoots sparks into this song about over-identifying with an identity crisis; who cares if its yours/hers or ITS, the aural buzz and a noisier backdrop only amplifiy the song’s angry hook and Hadrian’s shifting vocal persona.
...
These foreboding sonic dreamscapes are often punctuated by primordial guitar riffs and anguished yells. Your ear may hear a scream, but Hadrian insists that ‘those are yells, not screams.’ Regardless, this is one lunging beauty of a project that should be heard by fans of all alterna-genres;

The Spectacle Experiment is reall the modus operandi for singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hadrian Mordecai, who paints sound collages with the artsy, nocturnal aura most closely associated with Pink Floyd, My Bloody Valentine and Spiritualized. An even split between the nihilistic aesthetic of punk and craftmanship of classic rock, TSE display the ability to wreak sonic pandemonium with tracks such as "One More Day" and "Just Like You" or to slip into reflective bliss on acoustic-based cuts including "Last You'll Ever Hear From Me" and
"Out of Focus." Though Mordecai's lyrics often border on the pedestrian, his angst-filled vocals and inventive arrangements drawn from the collective din of synthesizers, violins, guitars, and assorted space effects reasonably compensate for the occassional glitch in the verse. The finale "Never Thought" is a neo-psychedelic gem. If there's another one-man band ready for the big leagues. it's the Spectacle Experiment.

a great job recapturing the fuzzy angst of Sonic Youth

Spectacle Experiment does a great job recapturing the fuzzy angst of Sonic Youth, while putting a whole new spin on it with mopey albeit danceable melodies ala Portishead. Controlled, Nine Inch Nails-like anger also runs through the band's strong indie debut, ``Just in Time for Nothing.'' Also like Nine Inch Nails, Spectacle Experiment is pretty much a one-man band, multi-instrumentalist Hadrian Mordecai, with special guests in the studio and on stage.
On some of Mordecai's songs, such as ``Just Like You,'' there's a healthy dose of punk underneath a delicious gnarl of feedback. Then there's haunting acoustic tunes, such as ``Last You'll Hear From Me,'' making for a nice mix of mangled beauty swathed in rage and sadness.
