Spectrum Trio is a percussion trio dedicated to the evolution of music of the African diaspora by infusing traditional music with a variety of influences. With original compositions utilizing traditional Cuban batá toques and song to Brazilian batucada, Peruvian cajon, African mbira, and more, the trio’s mission is to showcase the flexibility of these traditional musics to audiences by melding them with the influences of contemporary classical music, as well as jazz, rock, and funk. By combining the folkloric percussion instruments with traditional sacred and secular song with keyboards and synthesizers, the result is always an energized and danceable show that one will not soon forget.
