This CD is everything that I wanted to hear. His first album, Everybody has a Song, was great. The simple, meaningful love songs fill a distinct void in popular music today. However, this new album demonstrates depth and maturity that are unmatched by any song off of the first album. Not only are these songs recorded more interestingly, but they demonstrate a self-deprecating wit and youthful earnestness that is matched by no other artist today. Spencer Bates is growing as an artist, and I'm just glad that I could be around to witness it.

spencer's second cd shows a updated version of his incredible musical talent. with every day he keeps getting stronger musically and record companies will have no choice but to see this strength sometime in the near future. he is one of my greatest inspirations and can always find a way to make me smile with his voice.

Brilliant rising star

I couldn't stop listening to this amazing album. It was obvious that the songs come straight from the artist heart and that much love was poured into creating this great mix of music. This talented young artist reminds me of a mix of Elton John and Billy Joel but with his own unique twist. I can't wait to see what comes next. My favorite song was definatly Let It Slide

Impressive Songwriting and Catchy as Hell

The follow-up EP to Spencer's debut "Everybody Has a Song," "Back to School" takes everything that was good about Spencer's earlier work and presents it in a cleaner, poppier (is this a word?) production. Once again, Spencer's songwriting shines through as his biggest asset. The tracks deal with love, sadness, and growing up with a healthy dose of self-depricating humor. Not a bad one in the bunch.
