Album Notes

Formed in the late 1990s in New Jersey, Spider Rockets’ sound can be described as ass-kickin’ hard modern rock meshing the grunge vox stylings of 7-Year Bitch with the radio rock sound of Velvet Revolver and Godsmack.

Al Muzer from the Aquarian Weekly agrees with this assessment, by declaring "[Spider Rockets] continues to crank out the crunchiest, catchiest, most melodic, mean-riffed and caustic metal noize...."

Fantastic. Driving bass, loud and heavy with great tunes. Fronted by quality female vocals. We love this record. Thanks and the best of luck Spider Rockets.

one of the stronger CDs, major label or indie

In a music world full of genre-less bands and artists, comes Spider Rockets, one of the most difficult bands to categorize I've ever come across. Let me re-phrase that. The ARE a hard rock band, but that generalization doesn't do them justice at all. Bands with a female vocalist are often stereotyped, but I can't think of too many bands that have this sound with a female voice. The songs are tight and compact with a nice punch to them. Guitarist Johnny Nap has a great tone and sound. It's part Metal with the grunginess of early Stone Temple Pilots. The sound is hard to describe, but it's crunchy, dark and groove-laden. Nap, also, is aware of what the drums and bass are doing as they come across as a well-oiled machine. Helena's voice cuts nicely between the dark, heavy music. She uses melody blended with some modern efx that creates a very infectious sound. You don't just hear the music, you feel it and fall under its hypnotic trance. The tracks are amazingly consistent with not a weak one in the bunch. If I had to choose, Backwards, Flipped Off, Fortune and So High are my favs, but I guarantee everyone will have a different favorite. This IS one of the stronger CDs, major label or indie, that I've heard in years. I really hope this is a sound that catches on more as it adds some much needed excitement to the stagnant music scene.

Okay lets cut with the crap. Spider Rocket who are fronted by Helena, who's a chick on the mic that can sing and have wonderful vocals. She's backed by 3 awesome kickass musicians who play like mad-men on the record. The thing I love most about Spider Rockets is that they have wonderful tunes, Shut The Hell Up, about shutting the hell up and Bitch (everybody's favorite word) and So High. They have everything you want in a band: a chick, guitar riffs, kickass beats, and simple tunes that just simple kick ass. Overall: Spider Rockets if your reading this...I love you man!!

Definitely one of the best CDs I've listened to in a while. So High, Flipped Off, Shut the Hell Up, Backwards, Other Side, I'm Falling are all great songs. The music and vocals work very well together.
