Spiderfingers was founded in 2000 as the brainchild of guitarist/singer Jared "Spiderfingers" Meeker. During his four years of study at California Institute of the Arts, Jared met the members that would later make up Spiderfingers: Blake Colie (drums), Joel Oniel (bass), and Evan Fraser (keyboard, percussion). Together they played in a variety of ensembles ranging from funk, reggae, rock, blues, and jazz. These influences are the foundation of the truly unique sound that defines Spiderfingers.
Spiderfingers blends folk anthems, reggae dub-soul, and progressive rock into a style that has it's own definitive personality. Some of their compositional bags of tricks include psychedelic improvisations, funk riffs, and ambient textures. The group utilizes technology with pre-recorded intros and inventive signal processing.
Spiderfingers' sound is raw and personal, and one that listeners can embrace and learn from. Lyrically they touch on subjects of love, hate, time, compassion, greed, acceptance, growth, and spirituality. Through these themes Spiderfingers achieves a dynamic rarely found in live performance.
