Sarah Pierce's low alto is beautiful. Her original songs are well worth listening to; a couple of them could become classics if enough people heard them. There are two reasons I did not give this album 5 stars: (a) on Rudolph, another woman sings lead for the chorus; her voice is too heavy and clogged sounding for my liking (plus Rudolph is not exactly a favorite); (b) I could have done without the sing-along version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Not only is this a song I don't particularly care for, but it's also a bunch of people (family?) singing along. I don't like the casual, sing around the fireplace, join in when you like style. Our family does that when we're together and we all have good voices, but it doesn't belong on a record. Overall, I really like the album. It's a nice change. 4.5 stars Read more...
