REVIEWS

Great eclectic stuff

This album is kinda contrast to Alleman's 'ol timey' stuff with band Flat Mountain Girls. But just as compelling I think. It's sort of evocative free form country-- indeed almost a cross between Nanci Griffith, Rickie Lee Jones and The Gourds. The songs create an odd sorta song cycle but get under your skin if you let them. Her voice is high and distinctive, maybe an acquired taste but I sure have acquired it. If beatnik bluegrass were a category, this trio would be right at the top.
