Album Notes

One dark night deep in the English countryside, a medieval barn and a very special evening of Spikedriver blues. Over an hour of atmospheric, energetic and stunningly inventive music captured on one remarkable CD. The Spikedrivers prove that the blues are alive and kicking.

This is a mesmerizing live album, containing thirteen of the best tracks from the show, beautifully mixed in stereo by Simon Allen who was also the man behind the sound desk on the night. It includes the much-requested Spikedrivers’ arrangements of Lil’ Red Rooster, Shake Your Hips, I Believe I’ll Dust My Broom and a killer version of Ghost Train Shuffle.

"... just buy this hugely entertaining CD by one of the best on the circuit".
Blues Matters

"Nobody plays like them. Nobody sounds like them".

" ...moody, mean and gorgeous......".

"Ben Tyzack’s voice is distinct and his slide guitar impeccable throughout."

"This recording captures the intensity and dynamics of a live Spikes show, how they build it up, and take it down, depicting exactly how they are live."
Blues in Britain

"I have always admired the way in which these three
very talented musicians are willing to experiment
and evoke unusual contemporary sounds while keeping
their feet firmly in the past with the music they love."
Bob Tilling – Blues in Britain
