One of the brightest stars of Milwaukee's "hidden" pop scene
author: Maxx Large
If Milwaukee's Spill does not achieve greatness, there truly is no God.
Spill's self-titled debut disc has scarcely left my CD changer since I first picked it up. And it's not just because Jack has fly cheekbones, or Kirk has extremely successful facial hair. It's because I've not heard another band, national or local, who so precisely nails the specific timbre of Midwestern pop in all it's melodic, hook-filled, jangly glory.
This disc is regrettably brief at only six songs, but Spill manage to pack more sonic joy into six songs than some bands can muster their whole careers. Listen to it once, and "Out There", "Leave Me Out," and "Goodtime Girl" will install themselves onto a continuous loop in your cerebral cortex. And what's more, you'll be happy about it.
If you're looking for an antidote to manufactured, cookie-cutter bubblegum, or angst-laden, joyless nu-rock, then Spill's self-titled disc IS the blessed serum bath to the brain that will knock the cobwebs from your seratonin glands. They're even good live, kids. I mean...C'MON.
Buy this disc. That is not a request. If you don't positively ADORE it, then E-mail Spill, and give them your address. They'll pass it on to me, and I'll personally refund your money, including shipping costs. I'm so sure that this band will show you whole new levels of musical contentment, I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.
You should be, too. Stop reading this, and click the "Buy" button, already.
GO.

What the world needs now is a good Spill...

This strictly Hip/Hop and R & B buff is has added rock to her repertoire thanks to Spill. This self entitled CD is a righteous remedy for love's nasty hangover. Finally, lyrics that make sense (read: aren't CORNY) and confirms that fantasy is what we want, but REALITY is what we need. A wise man twice said: '...and Reality is what you're gonna get!' No doubt.
