Splendid, I've missed you!

This recording misses out on the full five stars simply because it isn't a full-length album. But this EP still delivers in spades. Like my favourite songs from this duo, the songs here are full of quiet intensity with soothing melodies that belie the seriousness of the lyrics, all imbued with a wonderful, subtle sexiness. I love the almost-hushed nature of Angie's voice, as if she's confiding secrets. Wonderful.

Please Sir, I'd like some more
author: Daniel O'Meara
Frente was a favorite band of mine growing up and I was sad to see them break up. However, I happened to check up on Angie Hart, the lead singer, and followed her to Splendid where she and her husband have created a fantastic band that has still not found a way into America outside of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (though there are a lot worse ways to make it here). Splendid may not have some of the folksy appeal of Splendid, having a more elctronic sound, but both musicians are in top form here and the melodic content is incredible. Dissapointed is a marvelous song and You Only Tell Me When You're Drunk is a superb cover. If I had any complaint, it is that we deserve more full-length albums. It is kinda sad when a band as talented and even potentially marketable as this has to resort to an EP to reduce their risk. Still, this is a must-have album, as is their debut, "Have You Got a Name For It?" Let us help Splendid find a larger audience and enjoy a long, fruitful career.

Sweet Perfection!

Hope this fantastic E.P is a sign of an album to follow.
Right from the opening track it just WOWS you as only Angie's voice can do. All the tracks are beautiful to hear again and again (i've had it on repeat) and if you've heard Frente and/or Splendid's previous gems then you MUST check this out.
Listen out for Pet shop boys cover - its classic!
