Album Notes

Bulk Rate, initially released in 2001, was originally available as a difficult-to-find Japanese import. A retrospective of Splitsville's Big Deal era, this CD is 60 minutes of music.

Bulk Rate contains key Splitsville tracks such as "I Concentrate On You", "Dayjob" and "Big Red Sun", as well as remixes of "Dotcom" and "Yearbook".

What else? There's a scorching live set (recorded February, '98 at Los Angeles' Martini Lounge) highlighted by the old Greenberry Woods classic "Adieu", "Dixie Liquor and Beer" and the rollicking closer, "The Kids Who Kill For Sugar".

Last but not least, Bulk Rate contains a previously unreleased cover of the Who's classic, "Our Love Was", which originally appeared on the 1967 album "The Who Sell Out".

This specially-packaged CD also includes a lyric booklet, Splitsville stickers and playing cards, and a whole host of other goodies.

I took a chance, and I'm glad I did!!!!!!!

I'm a big Who fanatic, and I heard the band's cover of The Who's Our Love Was on My Space. It might be the best Who cover I ever heard. So I checked them out here and was scared off by the hefty price (I know it's an import, but still...) But I took a chance put down the $20 for it. I've spent more money on dumber stuff. Got it in the mail, cranked it up and WOW! An amazing set of songs that I'm just discovering for the first time. Splitsville is amazing and the songs are incredible. People out there- this is an undiscovered treasure of music, and it's right under your nose! Cool stickers and stuff too

Maybe pricey here- but pick it up anyway

Since it's an import, the Bulk Rate CD itself is a little pricey. You might want to pick it up on itunes. But if you do that, you'll miss out on the cool stickers, cards and stuff like that included in some interesting packaging...the case looks and feels like a UPS box! But on to the music. If you're a Splitsville fan, you have most of the first half of this CD already. However, the remixes of Yearbook and Dotcom sound better- smoother and cleaned up. The vocals at the end of Dotcom in particular really stand out. The Who cover is terrific. It's fairly quiet at the beginning, but then it kicks right in as any Who cover should. The musicianship and especially the singing will impress the pants off of you. Covering the Who without embarrassing yourself is a tall order, but Splitsville does more than that. This cover in some ways equals (dare I say betters??) the Who's original because it packs more of a punch, but still retains the spirit of the song. The live set has great energy, it's played great and sung well in front of a what sounds like a small, but very enthusiastic, crowd. This set is loads of fun, and the closing track, Kids Who Kill For Sugar (whatever the hell that means, but who cares?) LEAPS out of your speakers. A perfect way to end a live show. This is intelligent, spirited, fun and sometimes ambitious music. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.
