Album Notes

Splity is no stranger to the music industry. As a veteran in this business, his agenda went from producing upcoming artists in the South Florida area, to becoming an artist himself. His first album, Sweeter then Love, under his former artist name, Overton Deverell, was done on vinyl in the early 80s on the Seven Beards Rec/Std label. It included the hit single, one Chance with You. Later on, in the early 90s , Splity released another album, World Party which included another hit single, Mt Zion High. It was then he decided to change his artist name to Splity Atombo, which was given to him by an African ruler of a small tribe, when he visited the tribe to study their method of playing drums for the purpose of communication and entertainment. In 2005, he released the Splity and Friends album, comprised of 15 selections done by various artists. It was also released under the Seven Beards Rec/std label.
On this album, Reggae Soca, Splity attempts to create a bond with the listeners by connecting his lyrics to their daliy life experiences. It consiste of a mixture of calypso, soca, reggaes, and r&b. Its purpose is to sooth and express gimmickry to make them laugh and most importantly, dance.
