Sounded Great in Person, so I bought the CD
author: Chris Fletcher
Jason and the trio opened this past Saturday for a well-known combination band (two groups plus other talent). As has happened to me before (most notably when several years Justin King opened for Diana Krall at Tanglewood) I found the opening act to be much more satisfying and musically thrilling than the main event. The trio he fronted was tight - great beat through the blues numbers, soulfully searching through the ballads, connecting on so many levels. I too rarely by CD's and I am NOT into downloading from the web (it's a generational thing I will probably avoid forever), but have been rewarded by buying The Flame You Follow. While the trio was superb and taut, an even more lush backing on the CD brings out incredible depth in Jason's music. The review above says Neil Young is a favorite of his, but I hear more of Stephen Stills in Jason's voice. Can't wait for Falcon Ridge to see them again. BUY THIS CD!

Every Song A Winner

The whole cd from start to finish is fabulous. Love his voice as much as the music and writing. Very polished sound. This is my first cd of Jason Spooner and I am hungry to discover what I have missed. I never buy cd's anymore, usually just download one song or so, but I am so glad I made the purchases, well worth it.
