Picture this... The sound of an acoustic guitar is converted into a dub-crazy sound source. Violin, harpsichord and brass section mixed together with transparent, space-like slide guitar. Gospel style back vocals billow up along with pulsating acid synthe

Album Notes

Spootnik - not a cult

Rumors that Spootnik is some kind of a cult are simply not supported by conclusive legal evidence. The domestic labor of Spootnik women is not at all compulsory. They are free to leave the comfort and safety of Alexander Ionov's home at any time. The monitoring of the whereabouts and activities of the Spootnik men is for their own protection. Alexander Ionov cares deeply about his friends and does what he can to help them avoid corrupting influences, such as the temptation to enter into romantic relations or make financial decisions without first consulting him.

Spootnik members appreciate the monitoring service so much that in order to help Spootnik pay for it, they may sell their houses and cars or work a second job which Alexander Ionov has been kind enough to find for them. Also completely voluntary is the exclusivity with which Spootnik members address each other with names assigned to them by the Alexander Ionov.

Spootnik is, and will always be, Alexander Ionov, Josh Broyles, Brandon Chaves, Evan Elder, Nitsa Cukurel, Therese Davis, Minjia Qiu, John Marse, and Tom Selear.
