Album Notes

Spyrit with this disk broke through with production values and experiments in structure. Velvety and
crunch in the same passage. Not just spoken word, whispered, sung, chanted, ranted...These are more than just words and sounds..

spyrit blends concepts like part rapper, part voodoo priest, part physics professor...
---willamette weekly pdx,or-usa

With bands like Hitting Birth, Blood Sugar, Ape Grave and many others of the late'90's Northwest usa culture he honed his craft. Portland Oregon is home to ancient trees, new fish and timeless poets.

He grew up in this tradition. LP4M is a work combining David Parks production genius to create beats and soundscapes for the words to weave through..

An accompanying booklet serves as a libretto for this disc. He's global now and putting out fresh takes,
but his roots still draw from the Pacific Northwest..

Stephen Spyrit is one of the most profound poets / writers / thinkers of our time. His poetry flows effortlessly yet eloquently and I've never witnessed him walk away from a microphone without leaving something heavy on the minds of the audience. Often delivered with humor, Stephen's work defies the limitations and expectations of 'poetry' - his work, his sound, his energy is more like 'know-etry' because it's jammed packed with knowledge that transcends social, economical, racial or gender lines. His CD encompasses all that he is and more. It is a must-buy for anybody who dares to liberate themselves via the power of words.
