These guys found me on MySpace, based on my artist preferences (heavy on Nick Cave, Tom Waits, PJ Harvey and Swans/Angels of Light), and I gave some tracks from this CD a listen. I was blown away by the fact that THEY found ME. If your tastes run in a similar vein, buy this CD. Play it in your car, play it while you write, play it on the subway... you'll see what I mean. Real, raw talent here.

Strange rebel Frequency are a group which set up itself rather recently in California and with House of Four & Hearts makes their debut. With such a group name you expect no easily digestible numbers and that proves to be true. In a slow tempo the five members - in virtually acoustic setting - bring stripped songs, which bring to mind Mark Lanegan and sometimes Chris and Carla (Walkabouts), to the bone, but have by far outdone them with House. Dejected, ominous and very monotonous, this slow-core CD is just forty minutes. Briefly and to the point: they provide a strong sense of more terrible trouble. Unless you find lines such as "Where are the suicide girls that I once knew," however, comic.
